Here at GoFind Recruitment, we are proud to be representing a reputable and forward thinking metering provider in their search for a dedicated and driven Electrical Design Engineer to join their expanding team, based at their offices in Morecambe.

This role will see you designing, developing, and validating smart metering systems and associated technologies that support the UK’s transition to a smarter energy future.

You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams within engineering, product development, and operations to ensure that solutions are not only technically sound but also practical, scalable, and compliant with industry standards.

Roles & Responsibilities (But not limited to)

• Design and develop electrical systems, schematics, and layouts in line with project specifications and industry standards.
• Create detailed technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and circuit designs using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, EPLAN, SolidWorks Electrical).
• Carry out calculations and simulations to ensure performance, reliability, and safety of electrical systems.
• Select and specify electrical components, such as cables, circuit breakers, switches, and protective devices.
• Conduct design reviews and ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and codes of practice (e.g., IEC, BS, IET Wiring Regulations).
• Support project delivery from concept through to testing, installation, and commissioning.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation, bills of materials, and project reports.
• Liaise with internal teams, contractors, and clients to ensure designs align with requirements and resolve technical queries.
• Provide technical input to risk assessments, cost estimations, and feasibility studies.
• Support continuous improvement, innovation, and best practice in electrical design and engineering processes.

Skills

• Degree (or equivalent) in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or a related discipline.
• Proven experience in electrical design within industrial, commercial, or engineering projects.
• Proficiency in electrical CAD software and simulation tools.
• Strong knowledge of electrical standards, wiring regulations, and safety practices.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a project team.
• Strong communication and documentation skills.
