  • Annual Salary: £23,207.85–£25,309.13/year
  • Location: Dorset
  • Hours: 12-hour shifts (8am–8pm), 3–4 days/week incl. alternate weekends
  • Job Type: Permanent | Term Time Only

Join a lovely team at an Education group, where we support young people aged 16-25 with additional social, emotional, and mental health needs. We are dedicated to preparing them for adult life and facilitating their transition into further education, training, or employment.

No experience is needed, and increased rates are offered for those with experience.

Day-to-day of the role of a Support Worker:

  • Following a handover from our night team, you will support our students with their morning routines, ensuring they are ready for their day at college using verbal and visual prompts as needed.
  • At college, you will work alongside our teachers and teaching assistants to help students stay concentrated and focused on their work, providing emotional support as required.
  • Serve as a key liaison for parents and carers, ensuring all health/medical appointments are attended.
  • After college, assist students in preparing for dinner through prompting and motivating, rather than doing.
  • In the evening, participate in activities that the students are interested in, helping them develop their independent living skills.

Required Skills & Qualifications Support Worker role:

  • Willingness to Participate: Candidates should be eager to engage actively and creatively in meeting the needs of our young people.
  • Development of Independence Skills: Ability to support and develop independence skills such as budgeting, shopping, cooking, housekeeping, as well as accessing the wider community and using public transport.
  • Positive Encouragement: Skills in prompting and encouraging in a positive manner while providing social/emotional behavioural support.
  • Understanding of Good Care: Strong understanding of what constitutes "good care," putting the young person’s needs first while empowering them to be independent.
  • Transportation: Due to our rural location, access to transport and a driver's licence is essential.
  • Age Requirement: All applicants must be 21 years of age or over, given the age of our students.
