Our client is a well-established and respected environmental consultancy based in Manchester, seeking a motivated and experienced Senior Ecologist to join their growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for an ecology professional looking to take the next step in their career and play a key role in delivering a wide range of exciting and meaningful projects across the UK.
About the RoleAs a Senior Ecologist, you will lead and support ecological surveys, assessments, and reporting across a variety of sectors. You'll contribute to project design, manage field teams, liaise with clients and stakeholders, and ensure the delivery of high-quality ecological outputs on time and within budget.
Key ResponsibilitiesLead and manage a range of ecological field surveys (e.g. habitat, protected species).
Prepare high-quality technical reports including PEAs, EcIAs, and mitigation strategies.
Support and mentor junior ecologists and oversee fieldwork delivery.
Manage project timelines, budgets, and client communication.
Contribute to ecological design, impact assessments, and biodiversity enhancement initiatives.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of ecological legislation, best practice, and policy developments.
You'll be an experienced ecologist with strong technical and project management skills, and a passion for delivering sustainable environmental outcomes.
Essential Requirements:
Degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
Proven experience in ecological consultancy.
CIEEM membership (Associate or above).
Strong knowledge of UK wildlife legislation and ecological assessment.
Excellent report writing and communication skills.
Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel for site work.
Desirable:
Protected species licences (e.g. bats, GCN).
Experience in habitat management and biodiversity net gain.
Line management or mentoring experience.
