An established ecological consultancy based in Essex is seeking a motivated and knowledgeable Ecologist to join its growing team near London. This is a fantastic opportunity for a professional with a passion for fieldwork, biodiversity, and delivering high-quality ecological services.

The successful candidate will play a key role in conducting field surveys, preparing technical reports, supporting protected species licensing, and liaising with clients and stakeholders. The position involves a mix of office-based reporting and site-based fieldwork across the region.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Undertaking a range of ecological surveys (e.g. Phase 1/UKHab, bat, GCN, reptile)

  • Supporting the delivery of Ecological Impact Assessments and Habitat Regulations Assessments

  • Assisting with the preparation of EPS licence applications

  • Producing clear, concise ecological reports

  • Liaising with clients, contractors, and regulators

  • Mentoring junior staff and contributing to team development

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
  • A relevant degree in ecology or a related discipline

  • Experience within an ecological consultancy

  • Strong field skills and knowledge of UK wildlife legislation

  • Experience in protected species surveys and mitigation

  • Membership of CIEEM (or working towards it)

  • A full UK driving licence
