The Role: We are seeking a Criminal Duty Solicitor to join our dedicated team. This role involves providing urgent legal assistance to individuals at police stations and representing clients in magistrates’ courts.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide immediate legal advice and representation to clients in police custody.
• Represent clients in magistrates’ courts, including bail applications and plea hearings.
• Prepare cases for trial, including gathering evidence and instructing counsel.
• Work on a rota basis, providing out-of-hours duty solicitor services.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of criminal law and procedure.

Requirements:

• Qualified Solicitor with a current practicing certificate.
• Accredited to the Criminal Litigation Accreditation Scheme (CLAS).
• Experience in criminal defence work, including duty solicitor work.
• Excellent advocacy and client care skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
