Join Our Team as a Domestic Cleaner!

About the Role:

As a Domestic Cleaner, you will play a vital role in ensuring our hospital remains a hygienic and welcoming space for patients, staff, and visitors. Your work will directly contribute to reducing the risk of healthcare-associated infections, particularly for our vulnerable patients.

What You'll Do:

In this part-time position, working a 4 on 4 off shift pattern (7:00 AM - 10:00 AM), you'll engage in a variety of essential cleaning duties, including:

• Daily Cleaning Tasks: Mopping, vacuuming, dusting, wiping surfaces, emptying waste bins, and replenishing supplies.
• Area Cleaning: Maintaining both clinical and non-clinical spaces such as wards, toilets, corridors, waiting areas, offices, and treatment rooms.
• Deep Cleaning: Undertaking scheduled deep cleans in isolation rooms and high-risk areas as directed.
• Chemical Safety: utilising hospital-approved cleaning products and equipment effectively and safely.

Infection Prevention and Control:

Your commitment to infection prevention will be key in your daily tasks. Responsibilities include:

• Following strict cleaning protocols aligned with national infection prevention guidelines.
• Understanding zoning practises (clean vs. dirty areas) and applying barrier cleaning techniques.
• Regularly cleaning high-touch surfaces like bed rails, door handles, and light switches.
• Using colour-coded cleaning materials to prevent cross-contamination.

Health & Safety Compliance:

We prioritise health and safety! As part of your role, you will:

• Apply Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) regulations to all cleaning activities.
• Always wear the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and ensure its safe disposal.
• Store chemicals and equipment securely to promote a safe working environment.
• Report any incidents, accidents, or potential hazards to your supervisor immediately.

Skills and Qualifications:
