Despatch Planner / Transport Planner

• Hourly Rate: £16 per hour but our client may pay more for experienced applicants
• Location: Norwich
• Job Type: Temporary (3-6 months, potential to become permanent)
• Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 7am to 3pm

We are seeking a Despatch Planner to join our global manufacturing company on a temporary basis. This role is crucial in our high-pressure logistics environment, responsible for coordinating the efficient movement of customer orders from site to delivery. The Despatch Planner will play a pivotal role in load planning, trailer optimisation, and timing, ensuring all deliveries meet customer expectations and legal requirements.

Day-to-day of the role:

• Load Planning & Optimization: Build customer orders into the most efficient loads possible.
• Maximise trailer fill 
• Ensure customer deliveries are planned to arrive on time and within drivers' legal duty time.
• Maintain knowledge of legal compliance in transport operations.
• Subcontract Irish loads as required.
• Communicate changes in the load plan to all relevant parties.
• Liaise with internal teams including the Transport Manager, Assistant Transport Manager, sales team, traffic teams, and other staff.
• Manage the site contract with a focus on cost efficiency and service levels.
• Maintain average load size performance (excluding specials).

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Ideally have proven experience in despatch planning or transport planning.
• Ideally strong understanding of load planning and trailer optimisation.
• Ideally Knowledge of legal compliance in transport operations.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to liaise with multiple teams.
• Ability to make confident decisions that directly impact performance.
• Capable of working under pressure in a results-driven environment.
