Warehouse Operator/Fork Lift Driver
We currently have a fixed term vacancy for a Despatch Controller working on a 3 shift rotational pattern consisting of 1 week 12 hour days, 1 week 12 hour nights and weekends off. As a member of the Site Logistics Team of finished goods Plant Operators, you will be responsible for the storage, loading and unloading of the finished goods to support the site production and warehouse operations. The primary role of a Despatch Controller is of an FLT operator and Shunter Tug driver.
Key Accountabilities:
- Operating FLT up to 7 tonne (B2) with squeeze clamp attachment, and Yard Tractor Tug vehicle.
- Loading and unloading paper reels in an accurate, timely and efficient manner.
- Clearing finished goods from production lines, locating, re-locating, and storing using an on-board computer.
- Moving empty/loaded trailers to/from warehouses.
- Ensuring stock is despatched in a good clean condition, on time, all goods are safely stored, and orders are picked and despatched correctly.
- Maintaining safe operations of Material Handling Equipment.
- Performing general housekeeping duties to maintain a safe and clean work environment
- Undertaking any other operational and appropriate administrative duties as required
- Ensure all visiting drivers follow site rules.
- Communicate clearly with colleagues and managers, being active and constructive member of the team.
- Ensure all activities performed within site logistics areas are undertaken in accordance with the company policies and procedures.
- Participate in driver training for a variety of vehicles to achieve the DS Smith level of competence required.
About You:
- Minimum Full UK driving licence required.
- Minimum age 18 years.
- Previous Forklift driving experience advantageous.
- Strong communication and computing skills.
- Able to work as part of a team.
