Design Engineer – Renewable EnergyOur client is a low-carbon energy project developer with over 15 years’ experience working with landowners on the development of multi-megawatt energy projects across the UK.As a result of continued growth, they are currently looking for an experienced Design Engineer to play a key role in developing large scale renewable energy assets. The client has an office in London, but is happy for team members to work remote, with staff required to come at least once a month for key meetings.Responsibilities

• Develop detailed designs for renewable energy projects with a focus on Solar and BESS across the UK.
• Conduct feasibility studies to assess the viability of implementing new technologies.
• Work closely with the development team to ensure seamless integration of renewable energy systems into overall projects.
• Ensure designs comply with UK planning regulations related to renewable energy systems across Solar and BESS.
• Stay informed about changes in regulations and adapt designs accordingly.
• Create comprehensive design documentation, including technical specifications, drawings, and calculations across the company’s projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, or a related field.
• Proven experience in designing renewable energy projects within the UK, with expertise in solar and battery energy storage systems.
• Proficiency in design and simulation software(s) such as PVSol, PVSyst, AutoCAD, PSCAD, Matlab or equivalent used in the UK renewable energy sector.
• Proven ability to collaborate effectively in a team-oriented environment.
• Proactive and adaptable with a commitment to project success.

Desirables

• A knowledge and demonstrable experience of UK grid connection requirements would be an advantage.
• Familiarity with UK-specific renewable energy certifications would be a plus.
