Job Description :

An experienced Designer Engineer with at least 2 years of product design experience is needed to join the team at this award-winning camera dolly and stabiliser manufacturer based in Bristol on a full-time basis. 

The company is an award-winning Bristol-based remote camera dolly and stabiliser manufacturer. Established in 2014, they pioneered robotic control and stabilisation of cameras for the film and TV industry. Their technology pipeline is now spreading into other industries, including utilities, mining, and robotics.

Their growing team consists of experienced filmmakers, engineers, technicians, production experts and remote vehicle fans. Designed and built near Bristol, their products are custom-built to their customers' requirements and ship all over the world.

About the Role

Reporting to the Design Manager and CTO and working within a growing R&D Team with dedicated office and workshop space, you will design, build, test and develop the physical design aspects of their projects. 

Taking projects from initial concept to full production, you will ensure your designs meet all their users' needs and product requirements. You will also liaise with all internal departments across R&D, procurement, and production teams to provide end-to-end support for all products.

Required Experience:

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent in product design, mechanical engineering or related field
  • Proven experience (2 years +) in product/engineering design, demonstrating proficiency in Solidworks or high competency in other similar software
  • Creative approach to unique design challenges, with problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Experienced in designing parts for manufacture across a number of materials and processes, including but not limited to CNC machining, turning, sheet metal, injection moulding and additive manufacturing
  • Experience creating accurate version-controlled 3D and 2D drawing data for manufacturing

Required Skills:

  • Basic workshop skills; hand tools and 3D printers to create parts, test rigs and proof of concept assemblies
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment
  • Supplier liaison with UK and overseas suppliers regarding technical specs and manufacturing support
  • Ability to quickly iterate, develop and finalise design schemes to agreed timescales
  • Any experience in product development for TV, Film and camera stabilisation would be a bonus but certainly not an expectation
