Role Overview

A respected, Ofsted-rated Good college in Northamptonshire is looking to appoint a Deputy Head of Construction to help shape and drive its provision forward. This is a strategic opportunity to support the Head of Faculty by leading curriculum development, maintaining high standards in teaching and learning, and managing a team to deliver outstanding outcomes for learners.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the planning, development and review of curriculum content to ensure it reflects current and future industry needs.
• Deliver up to 7.5 hours of high-quality teaching per week.
• Monitor and support teaching quality through lesson observations, mentoring, and structured CPD.
• Manage curriculum staff, supporting professional development and maintaining high performance.
• Collaborate across departments to embed digital tools and skills-based learning across the curriculum.
• Build and maintain partnerships with employers and professional bodies to inform and enhance curriculum design.
• Contribute to internal quality assurance processes including self-assessment and curriculum reviews.

What You’ll Need:

• A recognised teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, Cert Ed, or equivalent).
• A degree or relevant professional qualification in your subject specialism.
• Substantial experience in curriculum planning and development within further education.
• Proven experience in managing or leading staff within an educational setting.
• A strong understanding of quality assurance and improvement frameworks.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills, with a proactive and collaborative approach.
