We require a Demand Reduction (Large User) Manager to cover an existing workload within United Utilities, based in Warrington (Hybrid working – 3 days per week from January).
This is an interim position for an initial 6 months with the potential to be extended, dependent on workload.
Job Purpose:
- Develop a detail understanding of the regulatory and legislative framework surrounding the water business relating to water efficiency and demand reduction (Water resources management plan, Drought Plan, Water industry act, Business Retail, Performance commitment levels and more).
- Develop an understanding of the teams which are affected by large users e.g. Production planning, Business Retail, Leakage
- To identify the largest water consumers within the United Utilities region, understand their geographical location, their impact on water production planning, track and understand their consumption through meter data.
- Identify any NHH users which are unmetered and develop a business case to ensure we meter 100% of business customers, for those unmetered customers identify any which have a potential to be categorised as a large consumer.
- Develop and maintain relationships with large consumers to understand how they use water, how they could use less water, what incentivises them to use less.
- Understanding of water management principles, conservation techniques, sustainable practices, industry best practices, UK water efficiency policies, and proficiency in influencing stakeholders and managing resources effectively.
- To develop water reduction projects and propositions for larger users, including full project management (e.g. business case development, delivery plan and cost & benefit delivery).
- Develop United Utilities’ Water Efficiency offer to business sites, including Smarter Business Visits, continuous flow analysis on smart metered properties, Non-Household Water Efficiency Calculator and the Non-Household Incentive Scheme.
- Produce 'Saving Water in Your Business' guide and sector specific case studies.
- Deliver water audits to a selection of United Utilities’ larger users.
- Measurement, analysis and reporting of business water savings achieved as a result of water efficiency interventions.
- Providing 1 to 1 advice to customers (Household and non-household) on how to reduce their water use.
- Support the Water efficiency and Demand reduction teams to manage and report on the overall water demand programme.
Skills and experience needed to be successful in this role:
- Strong communication, influencing and presentation skills.
- Excellent planning and delivery management to achieve pre agreed targets and deadlines.
- Numerate with a high level of competence in problem solving, analytical reasoning, and planning.
- Experience in customer engagement and project management.
- Exceptional knowledge of wider water industry and regulatory context would be highly beneficial.
