Rate: £859.49 – via an Umbrella company

About the Role
HSBC is seeking an experienced Delivery Manager to oversee the Programme Increment (PI) process across a large-scale technology programme. This role involves managing PI ceremonies, tooling, and alignment with the overall programme roadmap. The successful candidate will work closely with planning leads, delivery teams, and senior stakeholders to ensure effective governance, reporting, and delivery assurance.
Key Responsibilities
- Ownership of the Programme Increment process that includes planning for the PI, baselining the PI, tracking the progress of the PI, closing the PI out with demos and a retro.
- Leveraging the value streams to groom their backlog at the Journey, Capability and Feature level. The programme roadmap is positioned between the higher level clarity milestones and the lower level programme sprint plans and focused on work at the one quarter level.
- Flag areas for collaboration and ensure shared design points and co-development areas are flagged and receive focus.
- Form a senior part of the Delivery team able to deputize for the delivery lead.
- Work closely with the programme workstreams to ensure their work is captured within the PI baseline.
- Support management reporting including real-time dashboards and formal PPT slides that work at multiple levels to allow focused discussions with delivery teams and senior stakeholders with exception-based and burn down style views.
- Leverage project management disciplines, drawing on agile and waterfall methodologies to control and manage progress across a large delivery programme.
- Engage professionally with the value streams on delivery attending regular connects and ensure the PI is well managed with areas of concern flagged and addressed and changes recorded and where necessary escalated.
- The engagement will need to understand the asks from the value stream point of view and listen and respond to their concerns.
- Generate insights on delivery including picking up themes that are driving negative or positive trends or digging into PI items to get to the crux of the issue – ensuring management data is clear and actionable.
- Be able and willing to flex the role into more junior and senior activities as circumstances demand ensuring strong cohesions across the small central delivery team
- Be able to process planning data and analyse complex networks of relationships across tasks to generate high quality reports and insights.
- Support senior leadership in holding the delivery teams to account for their progress.
- Ensure delivery governance, across the wider programme, has a steady rhythm, getting PMs into good habits.
Knowledge & Experience or Experience
- 15 years of project management experience on technology projects in financial services
- Experience of adapting and following agile methodologies in a large corporate setting
- Effective at networking with a large group of people at both senior and junior level
- Examples of challenging and digging in when things don’t feel right or add up
- Delivery at scale with programme or portfolios spanning multiple projects
- Project management tools – specifically Clarity and JIRA
- Working with stakeholders including suitable executive materials
- Liaising with project managers on their plans
- Managing RAID items at the programme level
- Managing delivery content – assessing impact – knowing the key things and the details – able to summarise on demand
