Decarbonisation Manager (Infrastructure Delivery)

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Decarbonisation Manager to join their dynamic Delivery Directorate. This pivotal role involves leading the technical activities related to carbon reduction in the development and construction of major transport infrastructure projects.

As Decarbonisation Manager, you will ensure an ambitious capital programme aligns with regional Climate Action Plans and emerging Local Transport Plans, significantly reducing the carbon footprint of operations and new constructions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Strategy: Direct the Directorate’s carbon reduction efforts in major transport infrastructure projects, providing expert advice and best practices on sustainability matters
  • Policy Development: Inform and develop evidence-based technical policies for carbon reduction and sustainability, shaping major infrastructure projects
  • Carbon Management: Develop and implement robust Carbon Management Plans, including appraisal, baselining, projections, and policy integration
  • Supply Chain Engagement: Lead early engagement with the construction supply chain to embed carbon reduction strategies in major construction contracts
  • Monitoring & Auditing: Develop and oversee monitoring strategies to ensure construction practices adhere to agreed carbon reduction strategies
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Maintain collaborative relationships with key stakeholders, contractors, and the wider supply chain to ensure successful delivery of decarbonisation elements in infrastructure projects
  • Project Review & Innovation: Challenge and review project development to minimize carbon impacts and explore innovative approaches to further develop the decarbonisation agenda

Key Requirements

  • Experience in developing and implementing carbon management projects
  • Knowledge of carbon management and sustainability policies
  • Experience preparing business cases and managing sustainability programmes
