My clients' Asset team, part of the newly established Delivery Directorate, is seeking a Decarbonisation Manager. In this pivotal role, you will drive the development of robust decarbonisation plans for the new transport assets and explore innovative carbon footprint strategies that align with their organisational and national targets. Collaborating closely with project teams, Operations, and contractors, you will be instrumental in driving ambitious transport initiatives. Your responsibilities will include gathering data on construction materials to assess their carbon footprint and providing guidance on utilising low-carbon materials and methodologies, ensuring a carbon reduction strategy is embedded into the delivery of major construction contracts. This is a crucial role for the organisation as you will ensure that the company's capital programme aligns with the region's Climate Action Plan and Local Transport Plan. Monitoring assets and guaranteeing that they are resilient and can function in various climates is critical due to climate adaptation and our promise to make the West Midlands greener and better connected. Inform, develop, and promote evidence based technical policy in relation to carbon reduction and sustainability.

Provide expert advice to shape and inform Carbon Management Plans associated with the delivery of major transport infrastructure.

Responsible for early supply chain engagement to input into tendering exercises.

Responsible for the development of monitoring and auditing strategies to manage, monitor and inspect construction practices.

Maintain collaborative relationships and tactical governance across the business, key stakeholders, contractors, and the wider supply chain.

Constructively challenge and review project development and programmes

Prepare reports for senior management, elected members, company committees, programme boards and Local CabinetAbout you

Experience of developing and implementing carbon management projects, preparing successful business cases, managing specific carbon/sustainability programmes and preparing risk assessments in line with agreed targets and plansKnowledge of carbon management and sustainability policy and application, preferably within the transport sectorDegree and Post Graduate Degree or equivalent in a related field such as Transportation Planning and Management.
