If so, this might be the role for you…I am working with the St Ambrose Barlow RC High School in Swinton, Salford to find them a Data Graduate.

St Ambrose Barlow RC High School in Swinton (M27 9QP) is a special place to work, known for its emphasis on work life balance, wellbeing, and a supportive team culture.

You will be the data specialist across the 11-16 school, working to ensure the accuracy of data in implementing, maintaining, and developing the MIS. This is a vital role as data underpins many important decisions affecting pupil progress and attainment.

This is a new role, created by separating the Exams and Data functions. The Exams Manager is very knowledgeable on Data, and the school have access to a Data Consultant. Both are on hand to help you settle into the Data Graduate role.

This role would suit an adaptable person with a year or more in data analysis and the ability to build working relationships with the friendly school team.

Important Details:

  • Actual salary is £28,216 to £30,229 working 42 weeks a year (term time plus 3 weeks).
  • Band 3A 21-24.
  • Excellent local authority pension with employer contributions of 19.8%.
  • School will fund external qualifications.
  • Based in Swinton, Salford 8am to 4pm, Monday to Friday.
  • Some flexibility on the hours.

Duties of the Data Graduate:

  • Lead and promote an assessment data strategy to drive school improvements.
  • Ensure accurate, current reports on learner progress, produce and analyze data summaries, and
  • prepare accessible data for staff and senior leaders.
  • Collaborate with staff, senior leaders, governors, and parents to produce analytical reports on student performance and manage the reporting process to meet deadlines.
  • Use diverse data sets to set effective targets and identify groups for intervention.
  • Support staff in developing data handling skills and simplify data analysis with effective reporting strategies.
  • Coordinate and ensure efficient use of SIMS for timetabling, schedule maintenance, timetable changes, and managing statutory census returns.
  • Manage and effectively use data systems to collate and interpret data.

The Data Graduate Must Have/Be:

  • GCSE level education or equivalent (Maths and English)
  • Experience with management information systems.
  • Strong understanding of data management.
  • At least one year of experience managing data, using an MIS, and producing reports.
  • Excellent IT skills and proficiency with various software packages.
  • Strong Excel skills.
  • Effective and confident communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize, recognizing urgent matters while meeting deadlines.
  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience working to strict deadlines.
  • Experience as part of a team.
  • Willingness and ability to uphold Catholic values.

An Advantage but not Essential:

  • Further relevant post-16 study.
  • Previous experience in an education data role.
  • Familiarity with school software like SIMS, SISRA, Nova.
  • Practicing Catholic contributing to school and/or parish liturgical life.
