Section Manager: Supported Learning
  • Annual Salary: £46,543 - £50,646
  • Location: Hayes
  • Job Type: Full-time, 36 hours per week, 52 weeks per year

We are seeking a dedicated Section Manager for Supported Learning for a well established FE College based in a FE College Group for their School of Supported Learning. This role involves teaching, managing the curriculum, and overseeing staffing arrangements for courses within the Foundation Studies Section. The successful candidate will ensure effective recruitment, retention, and achievement of students with various Learning Difficulties and Disabilities and will liaise with external bodies to align the Foundation curriculum with key national and local initiatives.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Organise recruitment activities and ensure appropriate guidance and initial assessment of students.
  • Liaise with internal and external teams to ensure efficient recruitment and guidance of students.
  • Implement the College’s Employability & Enrichment and Skills for Life strategies.
  • Teach on a range of programmes within Foundation Learning and coordinate the production of course materials.
  • Ensure the development and implementation of new schemes, including submissions to awarding bodies.
  • Implement the College’s Quality Policy and ensure the implementation of target setting procedures.
  • Provide leadership in teaching and learning practices and manage course and staff timetables.
  • Maintain high standards in the learning environment and assist in the management and development of staff.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Qualified to degree level and a minimum Level 5 teaching qualification recognised by the FE sector (e.g., PGCE/DET).
  • Minimum of three years’ successful recent teaching experience in Supported Learning (SEND).
  • Good knowledge of current provisions for learners with Learning Difficulties and Disabilities, including the SEND Code of Practice.
  • Experience in curriculum management/co-ordination and team leadership/management.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and administrative skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software and experienced in using IT within the curriculum.
