Credit Controller
  • Annual Salary: £30-35k per annum depending on experience
  • Location: Stevenage, Hertfordshire
  • Job Type: Hybrid (3 days in office, 2 days working from home)

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Responsible for cash collection on a ledger for large corporate customers for local and export accounts.
  • Research and verify credit data on customers to establish or update lines of credit.
  • Assess, recommend, and/or approve credit limits using credit agencies within the company’s SLAs and your R&A.
  • Investigate and resolve customer invoice disputes to facilitate payment or issuance of credit to customers, working closely with the Sales teams to close down disputes in a timely manner.
  • Review customer accounts for aging of unpaid balances and pending orders, solicit payments on overdue accounts, and place delinquent accounts on ‘hold’ status until payment arrangements are secured.
  • Follow up on payment arrangements and recommend transfer of outstanding customer accounts to collection agencies.
  • Maintain a variety of files and records associated with delinquent accounts, incomplete files, and credit risks.
  • Maintain and update electronic and/or hard copy files in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Apply and retain credit insurance for specific customers.
  • Ensure all targets are achieved in line with management directives and goals.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Several years’ experience in a commercial credit control environment.
  • Proven knowledge of SAP would be advantageous.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Excel.
  • Strong critical thinking, analytical, and sound decision-making skills.
  • Ability to analyze financial statements, including balance sheets and profit and loss accounts.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good knowledge of credit insurance.
  • Experience working with multi-currency accounts.
  • MICM or Accountancy qualification is desirable.
