Credit Controller - Irlam Associates : Job Details

Are you an experienced Credit Controller ready to take ownership of your function and help shape the future of a finance department? This is a rare opportunity to join a reputable professional services firm during an exciting period of change and progression.Due to an upcoming retirement, we're looking to appoint a Credit Controller who will lead credit control activity, develop debt recovery processes, and enhance internal stakeholder engagement. Reporting to the Head of Finance and managing one direct report, you will have real autonomy to drive improvements and implement efficiencies.What You'll Be Doing

• Take full ownership of the credit control function
• Lead debt recovery, reduce debtor days and improve stakeholder relationships
• Communicate with clients by phone, email and letter to resolve outstanding invoices
• Monitor client accounts, resolve queries, and maintain accurate records
• Collaborate with legal and finance teams to improve debt control discipline
• Produce and present debt performance reports to senior leadership
• Support reconciliation activity with the cashiers team
• Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities
• Build effective working relationships across departments

What We're Looking For

• 2+ years' credit control experience (professional services or legal sector preferred)
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• A proactive, organised, and commercially minded approach
• Strong understanding of billing processes and financial operations
• Confident with Excel and reporting tools
• Experience working with client ledgers (legal sector knowledge advantageous)
