Immediate Start - Hands-On Role Clearing Aged Debt

Are you an experienced Credit Controller with the confidence to take on the toughest accounts and make an immediate impact? We're working with a valued client in Syston who needs a senior-level credit control professional to step in during a critical period - someone who can crack on with minimal hand-holding and help reduce aged debt quickly and effectively.

The Opportunity:

This is a highly practical role where you'll dive straight into a busy ledger, prioritising the hardest-to-collect debts and resolving long-standing issues. While you'll support and guide junior team members as needed, the focus is very much on getting stuck in and delivering results yourself.

Key Responsibilities:

• Aged Debt Recovery: Take ownership of the most challenging and overdue accounts to drive cash collection.
• Query Resolution: Tackle complex customer disputes and unblock issues that have held up payment.
• Ledger Management: Maintain your section of the ledger with accuracy and urgency.
• Process Review: Flag inefficiencies and contribute to improvements where possible.
• Customer Contact: Build rapport with key accounts and ensure payment terms are enforced.
• Data Clean-Up: Support the team by reviewing and improving customer data records.
• Ad Hoc Support: Assist with year-end tasks or other finance team activities as required.

About You:

Essential:

• Strong credit control experience, ideally in fast-paced or high-volume environments.
• Confident dealing with escalated and sensitive debt issues.
• Proactive, self-sufficient, and able to get up to speed quickly.
• Comfortable using Excel and familiar with finance/ERP systems.

Desirable:

• Previous experience with Sage, SAP, or similar software.
• A track record of handling aged or complex accounts with success.
