Job Title: Senior Credit Controller / Credit Control Team LeaderLocation: SystonPay Rate: Up to £18 per hourContract Type: Temporary (circa 3 months)

Are you a seasoned Credit Controller or Team Leader with a track record of driving improvements and supporting high-performing teams? We're looking for someone who can hit the ground running-leading by example, improving processes, and helping to clear a backlog during a critical time.

About the Opportunity:

Macildowie is partnering with a long-standing client in Syston to appoint a Senior Credit Controller on a temporary basis. This role is ideal for someone with leadership experience who is comfortable managing their own ledger while also coaching others and identifying areas for operational improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership Support: Act as a senior point of contact for the team, guiding junior Credit Controllers and supporting team performance.
  • Process Improvements: Review and enhance collection processes to improve efficiency and reduce aged debt.
  • Ledger Ownership: Manage a section of the ledger, ensuring timely collections and accurate allocations.
  • Escalation Handling: Take the lead on resolving complex and aged queries, including customer disputes.
  • Customer Communication: Build strong relationships with key accounts to ensure payment terms are met.
  • Data Cleansing: Maintain and improve customer account data accuracy.
  • Year-End Support: Assist with financial year-end tasks as needed.

About You:

Essential:

  • Minimum 2 years' experience in Credit Control, with some exposure to team leadership or mentoring
  • Confident communicator, particularly when dealing with escalated queries and aged debt
  • Process-minded, with a continuous improvement mindset
  • Proficient in Excel and experienced with finance systems

Desirable:

  • Previous use of Sage, SAP, or similar systems
  • Demonstrable experience implementing or contributing to credit control process improvements
