Council Tax Officer / Revenues & Benefits Officer - JOB SWITCH LTD : Job Details

Working in the Council tax Enforcement team I am seeking two experienced Revenues Officers to administer Council Tax accounts and other revenue streams in line legislation.

Efficiently and effectively recover debts due to the Council. Assist with the preparation and representation of the Council in the Magistrates Court, County Court, High Court and Tribunals as well as the management and monitoring of the Enforcement Agents and other collection agents and recovery processes.

Maximise collection in accordance with Financial Procedures and statutory regulations. Provide a high standard of service to customers.

Knowledge

High level knowledge of collection and enforcement legislation

High level knowledge of the Magistrates Court proceedings in both Liability Order and Committal applications

High level knowledge of the County Court proceedings for the recovery of unpaid revenue

High level knowledge of Charging Order proceedings

High level knowledge of Insolvency proceedings

Knowledge of Welfare Rights issues

Experience

Monitoring targets and performance, collating information and analysing statistical data for input into management reports

Managing conflicting priorities under pressure

Working in a revenues of similar environment

Experience of dealing with challenging customers

Conducting court hearings on behalf of the council

Dealing with complex cases and providing advice to junior staff
