Role: Cost Controller

Location: South Normanton

Salary: £28,000 - £30,000

Our client are specialists in commercial fleet management and they are looking for a Cost Controller to join their office in South Normanton. They provide a full range of services including:

  • Scheduled event management and maintenance planning
  • Non-scheduled event management, mobile maintenance and repairs
  • Industry-leading fleet audits to improve efficiency, cost-effectiveness, safety, and compliance

The Role

As a Cost Controller, you'll play a vital role in ensuring costs are managed effectively across our fleet operations. You'll be responsible for authorising repair and maintenance work, analysing costs, and supporting compliance - all while keeping efficiency and accuracy front of mind.

Key Responsibilities
  • Scrutinise, challenge, and authorise costs on up to 100 daily jobs
  • Manage estimates and authorisations via portals, emails, and phone calls
  • Resolve supplier queries promptly and chase outstanding responses
  • Run open job/WIP reports to progress outstanding costs and invoices
  • Check for manufacturer recalls and technical updates to support repair decisions
  • Review historical repairs for repeat issues or misdiagnosis
  • Verify service records to ensure manufacturer guidelines are followed
  • Analyse fleet costs and highlight opportunities for savings or efficiency
  • Liaise with maintenance suppliers and ensure correct billing structures
  • Ensure compliance documentation is accurate and up to date
About You

We're looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment. You'll need to be highly organised, proactive, and confident in challenging costs where necessary.

Essential skills and experience:

  • Previous experience in the transport industry (essential)
  • Technical/mechanical knowledge (advantageous)
  • Strong IT skills, especially Excel
  • Excellent communication skills - verbal and written
  • Ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision
  • Team player with a proactive, problem-solving approach
  • Strong attention to detail and ownership of tasks
