As Controls Systems Engineer, you’ll lead the management of all control systems, ensuring backups are maintained, obsolescence risks are planned for, and control improvements are developed and delivered.
Working closely with the Maintenance Manager and engineering team, you’ll also provide front-line support for breakdowns, fault finding, and repairs — ensuring
equipment downtime is minimised and operational targets are achieved.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and manage backups for PLC programs and control systems.
- Identify, manage, and plan for obsolescence risks within control systems and hardware.
- Develop, implement, and improve electrical control systems across the site.
- Support repairs and modifications to plant and machinery control systems.
- Diagnose faults on PLC controlled systems and variable speed drives.
- Record and follow-up on all control-related faults and actions taken.
- Support Maintenance Manager with site compliance, audit readiness, and plant efficiency projects.
- Provide technical support for control-related breakdowns, including support outside of normal working hours when required.
Qualifications
- Qualified in Electrical / Electronic Engineering (HNC / TEC Level or equivalent).
- Proven experience within manufacturing, or process industries.
- Solid knowledge of PLC systems, automation, and variable speed drives.
- Competent in electrical fault finding and reading circuit diagrams.
- Experience with both single and three-phase power distribution and control systems.
- Understanding of IEE Wiring Regulations & Electricity at Work Regulations.
