Job Description :

We have an exciting opportunity for an Exercise Planning Advisor to join the Civil Nuclear Constabulary at their headquarters in Culham, Oxfordshire.

You will be in support of the Exercise and Resilience Manager, to deliver an effective counter terrorism exercise programme that meets the organisation's needs. To effectively manage the planning process of live-play exercises, reporting on progress to the Exercise Manager and maintaining accurate records. To support the team in the maintenance and development of the organisation's resilience posture.

PLEASE NOTE DUE TO THE POLICE VETTING CRITERIA YOU MUST HAVE RESIDED WITHIN THE UK CONTINUOUSLY FOR AT LEAST 5 YEARS AT THE TIME OF APPLICATION. ANYTHING ELSE WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • To contribute to the planning and delivery of the rolling programme of Counter Terrorism (CT) Live Play and Table-Top exercises, ensuing effective and timely delivery, as well as maintaining compliance with exercise planning policies and procedures and the prevailing exercise strategy.
  • To design and implement CT exercises that are relevant to the CNC's mission & current national threat assessment to allow for the accurate assessment of the organisation's performance and provide for learning outcomes to be established.
  • To provide direct support and guidance to individuals during exercises to facilitate their effective completion.
  • Through the monitoring and analysis of the performance of exercises, to make appropriate recommendations to be incorporated into the learning and development cycle to improve organisational effectiveness.
  • To supervise the Exercise Planning Coordinator and be their first line manager
  • To provide advice and guidance in relation to exercise planning policies and procedures, as well as the exercise strategy, ensuring consistency and compliance of practice. This includes internal customers as well as external stakeholders.
  • To comply with the government security classifications for documentation storage and transmission.
  • To maintain up to date and accurate records of all exercises, to supervise the drafting the final exercise report (PXR) and to provide regular reporting to the Exercise Manager or others as required.
  • To provide support to all members of the Exercise and Resilience Team as required, (e.g. assist with the update and maintenance of Operational and Business Continuity Plans and exercises)

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

  • Ability to be discreet and deal with sensitive information
  • Ability to work alone at CNC policed sites
  • Good organisational, planning and recording skills
  • To effectively work in a partnership with internal and external stakeholders switch with point above?
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • IT literate: ability to use corporate systems
