Consultant Psychiatrist - CAMHS (Private Inpatient Service)

  • Location: Chelmsford, Essex
  • Salary: £180,880 per annum
  • Hours: 37.5 | Full-Time | Permanent

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to lead a brand-new private inpatient CAMHS service in Chelmsford.

Set in a purpose-built facility with landscaped grounds and a calm, therapeutic environment, this expanding service is part of a well-established multidisciplinary team delivering personalised, high-quality mental health care for children and adolescents.

You will play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering exceptional psychiatric care in a dedicated CAMHS ward, alongside experienced psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, and therapists.

The Role:

  • Provide clinical leadership as Consultant and Responsible Clinician

  • Oversee assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning for young people in the inpatient and outpatient settings

  • Chair MDT and CPA meetings, ensuring collaborative and person-centred care

  • Work closely with the Ward Manager to meet clinical and regulatory standards

  • Participate in governance, quality improvement, and service development initiatives

  • Contribute to audit, teaching, and CAMHS academic meetings

Requirements:

  • MBBS or equivalent medical degree + MRCPsych

  • Full GMC registration with licence to practise

  • Specialist registration with CAMHS CCT or CESR

  • Valid Section 12 and Approved Clinician (AC) status

  • Strong knowledge of the Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act

  • Demonstrated leadership experience in CAMHS settings
