An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Construction Lawyer to join a small local legal team but part of a larger global team. This role offers a hybrid working environment, allowing for a balance between office presence and home working. As a Construction Lawyer, you will handle legal matters related to construction contracts, ensuring the legal integrity of ongoing and negotiated contracts.

Day to Day of the role:

  • Manage a diverse range of legal cases within the construction sector.
  • Review, negotiate, and draft construction and commercial terms, contracts, and legal agreements.
  • Support commercial negotiations with end clients and provide legal advice on arising issues.
  • Deliver training programmes on legal and contractual risks related to construction terms and contracts.
  • Improve processes and update precedents and templates.
  • Collaborate with regional general counsel and/or external counsel on any arising issues.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Qualified lawyer in England & Wales or any relevant jurisdiction with a minimum of 5 years PQE.
  • Strong technical knowledge of construction industry legal aspects and commercial dynamics.
  • Experience with industry-standard forms of contract such as NEC, JCT, FIDIC & SBCC.
  • Familiarity with construction project insurance, collateral warranties, performance bonds, guarantees, and claims management.
  • Understanding of corporate, commercial contracts, and legal principles.
  • Effective negotiation, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Strategic and creative thinker, capable of resolving legal issues and comfortable working with incomplete information.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment and independently.
  • Proficiency in communicating complex legal concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Ideally will have had experience of working in private law.
