Full time, Permanent

We have an exciting opportunity for a Compliance Accountant to join the Finance department. As part of the finance management team, they will provide high quality management information to support the business strategy. They will also be responsible for all matters of financial accounting, taxation, statutory reporting, financial controls, and internal financial control. This role will also be the one of the main contacts for the year-end audit and liaising with the auditors to make sure everything is correct in line with compliance and finance standards.

Skills and experience you’ll bring to us

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and analytical skills are essential
  • Qualified accountant with a minimum 5 years’ experience
  • Experience of a multi entity organisation
  • Knowledge and experience of SAP Financials (Advantageous)
  • Strong leadership experience with a proven track record of leading and managing professional staff, delivering solid performance and continuous service improvement
  • Proactive and self-motivated
  • Strong Excel skills

How you will help us and what you can expect

  • Develop and implement financial accounting strategies to improve efficiencies
  • Work with Management Accounts to provide guidance on issues arising from MSC Group reporting and accounting treatment to ensure accurate and consistent information
  • Ensure the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of all financial reporting
  • Manage the MSC UK Group financial processes by ensuring all elements, including intercompany are completed in the MSC Group consolidation tool
  • Manage the preparation of the MSC UK Group companies’ financial statements that reflect the financial position in accordance with the relevant accounting principles and legislation, including the balance sheet, income statement and cash flow statement
  • Manage all aspects of VAT and Corporation Tax calculations
  • Manage tax compliance, reporting and planning
  • Stay up to date of changes in regulations and industry trends and provide guidance and recommendations to senior management on potential impacts and necessary actions
  • To support development of the strategy through considering strategic risks and appropriate mitigations
  • Responsible for the Creation and implementation of risk management policies and protocols
  • Manage the preparation of audit working papers for year end
  • Managing the financial internal control framework, financial risk and subsequent improvement plans
  • Managing the impact of regulatory developments and issuance of new Standards
  • Embed and support your team maintaining high performance via effective goal setting, consistent performance management and talent development across the team
  • As part of the finance management team support the function group and undertake initiatives for the wider need of the department
