About the SchoolA welcoming and inclusive secondary SEN school in Greenwich is recruiting a compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant. You will join a specialist team supporting students aged 11-19 with complex learning needs (including ASD, ADHD, SLD, PMLD). This is a rewarding role for those passionate about making a real difference in children's lives.
Key ResponsibilitiesDeliver 1:1 and small group support for students with complex learning, medical and communication needs
Assist with personal care tasks (toileting, feeding, mobility support, hoisting)
Facilitate learning through life-skills development, sensory activities, reading and writing support
Supervise students in classrooms, playgrounds, and on school outings
Build meaningful, trusting relationships, promoting independence and emotional wellbeing
Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and medical staff to follow individual support plans
Use communication tools (PECS, Makaton, AAC) where appropriate
Maintain safe practice and confidentiality standards at all times
Prior experience working with children or young adults with SEN, complex needs, or physical disabilities (school or care settings)
Comfortable supporting personal and physical care requirements
Patient, empathetic, and resilient, with strong behaviour management skills
Strong communication abilities and team-oriented mindset
Able to maintain high professional standards, confidentiality, and safeguarding
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
Relevant training in manual handling, hoisting, or similar is highly desirable (or willingness to train)
Competitive daily rate of £100-£120
