The successful individual will work in a growing law firm based in the London office taking on work to provide advice and assistance to high quality clients across a wide range of matters.
You will also have significant opportunities to contribute to the wider activities of the Department, including in relation to Business Development as well as Learning & Development.
The Competition Department
- Highly experienced in merger control, investigations and litigation, we have wide-ranging and deep knowledge of this area.
- The advice they provide is underpinned by commercial insight into our clients' sectors and objectives, and a focus on clear communication.
Key Responsibilities
- While distribution of work will vary from time to time as a Competition Associate will gain experience across the full range of matters that make up the department's practice.
- Typical work will include merger control, national security, and foreign investment
- You will be supporting the firm's corporate departments in relation to other competition law, merger control, national security and foreign investment matters arising on their transactions and client work.
- Supporting clients with a wide range of UK and EU competition law advice on specific matters.
- Providing clients with ongoing competition law training in relation to competition law compliance, dawn raids, and emerging trends relevant to their businesses.
- Advising clients in connection with public procurement and State Aid / UK subsidy control matters.
- Assisting clients with other aspects of economic regulation, including in the utilities sectors.
Skills and Attributes
- Strong technical competence in advising on Competition law matters;
- Strong verbal and written communication skills;
- An ability to be proactive, to plan work strategically with a view to prioritising key tasks, and to manage time;
- A curious and entrepreneurial mind-set, identifying opportunities to improve and innovate in our delivery of work for clients; and
- A collaborative attitude, operating as a "team player" and working effectively as part of a wider team.
