In this role, you will be responsible for the end to end Commissioning of this craft. This is a hands-on position ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has a passion for high-quality, safety critical projects.Responsibilities will include:
- Lead Multi-Disciplinary Commissioning: manage all commissioning activities for the craft’s systems, including LV and HV systems, mechanical, hydraulic and embedded software & controls
- Project Planning & Execution: Develop commissioning plans, procedures and schedules
- Team Leadership: Lead a small multi-disciplined cross functional team of engineers
- Testing & Troubleshooting: Rigorous subsystem and system level tests, including power distribution, software, hydraulics and propulsion)
- Quality & Safety Compliance: Safety-first culture during all trials including workshop and during at sea testing.
- Documentation & Handover: Detailed documentation of results, test reports, configurations and any modifications made
- Stakeholder Communication: Progress updates to internal and end-user representatives. Working with Project Management, design teams and suppliers ensuring OTD
- On-Time Delivery: Ensure OTD whilst working within budget and to quality and safety goals
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in a relevant engineering field
- Hands-on experience in systems commissioning for complex engineering projects. This should include a track record of commissioning integrated systems that involve electrical, mechanical, and software elements.
- Experience in maritime vessels, submarines, automotive or aerospace prototypes, or industrial automation systems.
- Knowledge of low-voltage (LV) and high-voltage (HV) electrical systems, including power distribution and control circuits. Familiarity with mechanical systems (engines, drives, pneumatics/hydraulics) and their control mechanisms
- Prior experience as a team lead or manager in a testing or commissioning environment is preferred
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, especially under pressure during test phases.
- Full UK Driving License
Desirable:
- Experience in Autonomous Systems
- Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status (CEng or IEng)
- Experience in software engineering
- SC clearance.
Candidates must be able to obtain BPSS clearance and should have the right to work in the UK.
