Commercial Officer - Circle Recruitment : Job Details

Role: Commercial OfficerSalary/Rate: £400-520 per day inside IR35 Location: hybrid multiple locations available, mainly remoteContract Duration: 12 months

We are currently looking for a Commercial Officer for our government client. This Commercial Officer role is mainly remote, with occasional visits to either Salisbury or Fareham sites, as required

The contract for the Commercial Officer position is for 12-months with potential to extend, operating inside IR35.

Security Clearance: Security Check ("SC Clearance") + sole UK national

This role is inside IR35 - Due to the service of the role, it will now be based on an Umbrella solution.

Essential skills/experience required:

• Identifying the most suitable commercial approach to the circumstance, including assessing the potential trade-offs and the level of risk mitigation required to achieve the best commercial outcome.
• Applying commercial skills and judgement through analysis of evidence and appropriate risk-taking.
• Taking ownership of decisions at tender evaluation stage and applying commercial expertise and judgement accordingly.
• Understanding and applying tools to monitor supplier performance, cost analysis, and contract related management information systems.
• You have worked in a Commercial role which has enabled you to work independently on sourcing, procurement, and contract management activities
• Have achieved professional competencies either through relevant commercial experience combined with commercial qualifications or preferably at or working towards MCIPS.
• Has a passion to work in a fast-paced Commercial environment.
• The skills to think ahead and plan own workload.
• Proven communications skills and ability to work in collaboration with colleagues, project staff and engage suppliers as part of contract negotiations.
• The ability to develop and seek out cost effective options.
• The ability to seek and implement opportunities for improved service delivery and efficiencies
• Research/development/purchasing background - desirable
• Defence/Public sector background - desirable

Role/responsibilities:

• Leading competitive or single source procurements and sourcing activities, including development of invitations to tender or negotiate, including complex contracts requiring non-standard pricing conditions or bespoke terms and conditions.
• Working alongside and advising project staff on acquisition strategies for procurements.
• Provide contract management of higher value or complex contracts.
• Authorised to make changes to cost and schedule for such contracts, take enforcement steps as appropriate, and lead contractor performance management assessments.
• Provide delivery and oversight of commercial sales activity
• Acting as a competent local expert on sourcing, contract management and sales within the Commercial function.
