Commercial Accountant - Robert Half : Job Details

Are you an ambitious ACA or ACCA qualified accountant with 2-3 years' PQE, ready to step up into a broad, commercially-focused role?

This fast-growing utilities business is at the start of an exciting scale-up journey and is looking for a bright, hands-on accountant to take ownership of a newly created role. You'll be the go-to person for financial and commercial reporting for a new business unit - with scope to shape processes, implement reporting and add real commercial value.

This is a broad role that blends financial reporting, commercial finance, and data analysis. Key responsibilities will include:

• Ensuring accurate revenue and cost recognition

• Delivering meaningful site-level P&L and margin analysis

• Supporting pricing decisions by reviewing and challenging cost assumptions

• Building reconciliations (e.g. water in / water out) and scalable reporting packs

• Overseeing third-party billing providers to ensure accurate, reconciled data

• Creating models from scratch and working with large, complex data sets

• Laying the groundwork for future finance processes in a new business segment

• ACA or ACCA qualified with around 2-3 years' PQE

• Strong foundation in financial accounting, with some exposure to FP&A or commercial finance

• Able to build models and reports from scratch in Excel (or similar tools)

• Comfortable working with large data sets and extracting meaningful insights

• Confident communicator, able to engage with stakeholders across the business

• Ideally coming from an SME or mid-sized business background, not a large multinational

• Someone who enjoys autonomy, variety, and getting stuck in
