Job Description :

A leading organisation within the automotive finance sector is seeking a motivated Collections Specialist to join their collections team. This role focuses on managing accounts between 1 and 90 days past due and requires excellent communication and negotiation skills to support customers in maintaining up-to-date payment arrangements.

The Role

As a Collections Specialist, you will be responsible for:

  • Handling a high volume of outbound and inbound calls to customers with overdue accounts
  • Negotiating payment arrangements and managing arrears using the collections system
  • Providing a high level of customer service, ensuring customers understand all payment options available
  • Conducting collections activities in line with FCA regulations, company policies, and the Treating Customers Fairly principles
  • Monitoring performance against service level agreements (SLAs) and key performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Maintaining professionalism and respect in all customer interactions
  • Reporting and adhering to all regulatory and internal compliance requirements

You will work closely with your team leader and the wider collections team to help meet financial goals and support customers in maintaining a positive credit history.

About You

To succeed in this role, you should have:

  • At least 2 years’ experience in collections or a customer service role within a call centre environment, preferably in automotive or consumer finance sectors
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to listen carefully and respond effectively
  • Confidence in decision-making and ownership of arrears cases
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage workload efficiently, prioritising to meet formal service and productivity targets
  • Intermediate level skills in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Ability to remain calm and focused during difficult conversations
  • Positive attitude, tenacity, and self-motivation
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while contributing positively to team goals
