We are seeking a dedicated Residential Care Worker to join our team, providing high-quality care and support to children and young people. This role is crucial in maintaining a high standard of individual practice consistent with National Standards and Codes of Practice.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Work in a positive, respectful, non-judgmental, and empowering manner with all young people to promote good relationships and encourage achievement.
  • Understand and embed National Care Standards into practice at the service level, ensuring that outcomes for all young people are recorded and monitored as regulations dictate.
  • Provide therapeutic care proactively and consistently.
  • Serve as a positive role model and maintain high professional standards at all times.
  • Ensure the routine physical care and hygiene of the young people is maintained.
  • Uphold the organisation's routines, limits, and boundaries for young people.
  • Promote and advocate for children's rights as described in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.
  • Engage in de-escalation techniques and physical intervention when required.
  • Support and transport young people to activities, family contacts, and other appointments.
  • Act as a key worker to a particular young person, supporting the implementation of their individual care plan.
  • Participate in child care reviews and contribute to the assessment and care planning process.
  • Develop and participate in daily programmes and individual/group plans.
  • Maintain all necessary records within statutory time scales and to a high standard.
  • Liaise and collaborate positively with parents/families and partner agencies.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience in providing care to young people, preferably in a residential setting.
  • Knowledge of National Care Standards and child protection regulations.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to ongoing training and continuous professional development.
  • Adherence to the registration requirements and codes of conduct of the organisation.
