Job Description :

Experienced full time permanent Support Workers required to work for a children's residential service based in Basildon, Essex. As a Children's Support Worker you will provide advice, assistance and support to children aged 5 to 17 yrs. To attend to their practical, physical, and emotional needs. To act as an appropriate role model and to work closely with the young people to enable them to address their difficulties and achieve their optimum potential.

To play a role in the establishment, maintenance and development of the environment providing young people with a calm safe and relaxed group living experience conducive to emotional security and personal happiness and growth. This children’s home is based on family style practice, and they want their children to feel nurtured, valued and protected. They want all their staff to enjoy coming to work, they would expect you to be bubbly, enthusiastic, family orientated, fun, without judgement and feel like part of the family

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Take responsibility for responding to any emergency by acting with care and with competence to inform the senior on duty / call where necessary.
  • Always maintain and keep the home secure and safe in line with legislation and basic common sense
  • To administer medication in line with policy, procedures, regulations and guidelines and to provide personal care if necessary.
  • To be available to attend and contribute to all relevant meetings and case reviews, family contact etc., as and when directed
  • To liaise with other staff and any external agencies
  • To mentor and support new and existing staff
  • To mentor and support the child
  • Take a lead in providing/checking monthly reports to social workers for Looked After Children
  • To provide a positive role model to be able to offer advice, guidance, and assistance where appropriate to staff and children
  • To support all children in your care empathically, non-judgmentally and unconditionally in a person-centered approach building positive relationships
  • To update risk assessments and any other clerical duties as the deputy manager or manager requires.

This is a full time permanent role working 12 hour shifts (day/night)

Salary £12.50 - £14 per hour, (£14 if level 3 qualified)
