Job Summary:

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Children’s Support Worker to join our client's team in Harrogate. You will play a vital role in supporting children and young people with a range of needs, including emotional, behavioural, and learning challenges. Your work will help them develop life skills, confidence, and independence in a safe and nurturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide Emotional and Practical Support: Build trusting relationships with children and offer consistent emotional support.
  • Encourage Development: Support children’s physical, emotional, social, and educational growth through structured activities and daily routines.
  • Ensure Safety: Maintain a safe and child-friendly environment, adhering to safeguarding protocols at all times.
  • Assist with Personal Care: Help with feeding, dressing, toileting, and other personal care needs, ensuring dignity and respect.
  • Support Educational Needs: Assist children with homework, learning activities, and liaise with schools and families to promote educational progress.
  • Manage Behaviour: Use positive behaviour strategies to support children with challenging behaviours and promote constructive conflict resolution.
  • Daily Routine Management: Help children maintain healthy routines including meals, exercise, rest, and recreational activities.
Requirements:
  • Essential:

    • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)
    • Willingness to complete mandatory training (e.g., safeguarding, first aid)
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
    • Patience, empathy, and adaptability
    • UK drivers' licence 
    • Previous experience working with children and young people 
  • Desirable:

    • Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and child development
    • Qualifications in childcare, education, or health and social care
