Location: Rotherham

Salary: £26,941 per annum

Are you a dedicated and experienced safeguarding professional committed to creating a safe and thriving environment for young people? The Group is seeking a dynamic and compassionate Campus Safeguarding Lead to play a pivotal role in ensuring the welfare and protection of their students at Rotherham College.

The Role

In this truly rewarding position, you will provide a high-quality, responsive service to students faced with welfare and safeguarding issues, always in strict adherence to statutory responsibilities and best practice, including "Keeping Children Safe in Education" (KCSiE) and relevant child protection legislation.

As Campus Safeguarding Lead, you will act as a primary point of contact at Rotherham College for staff, offering expert guidance on student welfare and safeguarding issues. You will collaborate closely with key colleagues, external services, and families to ensure timely and appropriate referrals to external agencies. Your proactive and responsive approach will be critical in promoting a safe and supportive learning environment for all students across the Group.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Recent experience of working in safeguarding within an education or community setting.
  • Experience of youth engagement, advice and guidance or education with young people. Ideally, your experience will be within post-16 education (FE) and involve managing a range of safeguarding cases.
  • A strong working knowledge of confidentiality, child protection, data protection/consent, and anti-discriminatory and trauma-informed practice.
  • Level 2 Literacy and Numeracy (or equivalent), a Level 3 Safeguarding qualification, and ideally, a further Level 3 qualification in a general vocation (though not essential).

Department Info

You'll join a dedicated and collaborative Student Support team, working closely with Campus Safeguarding Leads, Attendance and Pastoral Officers, Mentors, Personal Development Coordinators, and Curriculum staff, along with wider college teams. You will be line-managed by the Group Safeguarding Lead, who will provide operational direction and support.
