Family Court Adviser (Social Worker)
  • Salary: £41,550 - £46,332
  • Location: Chelmsford (covering Essex, Southend, and Thurrock)
  • Job Type: Full-time

We are seeking a dedicated Family Court Adviser (Social Worker) to join our Public and Private Law team in Chelmsford, covering the Essex, Southend, and Thurrock areas. This role is ideal for a Social Work England registered social worker who is organised, resilient, and able to work independently. With a focus on the welfare and safety of children within family proceedings, this position offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on children’s lives.

Day to Day of the role:
  • Assess and analyse court applications for child protection and serious welfare issues.
  • Influence those with parental responsibility to focus on the child’s needs.
  • Advise the courts and Local Authorities on safeguarding concerns and improvements to a child’s life.
  • Represent children’s views and wishes to the court through written reports and evidence.
  • Engage in direct work with children and families to achieve safe and positive outcomes.
  • Work flexibly and remotely, with the possibility of being office-based depending on specific responsibilities.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Diploma in Social Work (or Social Work England recognised equivalent).
  • A minimum of three years’ post-qualifying experience in social work with children and families at risk.
  • High standard of assessment and case analysis.
  • Ability to produce written work to a high standard and communicate effectively.
  • Skilled in negotiation and confident decision-making in high conflict situations.
  • Competent and confident use of a range of IT and electronic systems for case management.
