Cabinet Support Officer – Corporate ServicesPay rate: £26 per hourLocation: Hybrid (3–4 days in office per week)Contract: OngoingGrade: SO2At Pertemps, we are delighted to be working in partnership with a high-profile Local Government organisation to recruit a Cabinet Support Officer to join their Corporate Services team.This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced professional with strong administrative, policy and political awareness skills to play a pivotal role in supporting Cabinet Members and the wider administration in delivering positive outcomes for local communities.? The RoleAs Cabinet Support Officer, you will:
  • Provide flexible administrative and policy support to 2–3 Cabinet Members.
  • Manage inboxes, triage correspondence, draft responses and co-ordinate casework to ensure prompt and professional communication.
  • Deliver effective diary and meeting management, ensuring Cabinet Members’ time is used productively.
  • Support forward planning, prepare briefing materials, collate agendas, and co-ordinate briefings and stakeholder engagement.
  • Undertake policy research and prepare concise, accurate analysis and briefing notes.
  • Build positive relationships with senior council leaders, officers, external partners, community representatives and residents.
  • Uphold confidentiality, political sensitivity and discretion at all times.
  • Support events, site visits and Cabinet-related meetings, some of which may require flexibility outside of standard office hours.
? Selection CriteriaWe are looking for someone with:
  • Proven experience providing senior-level administrative support (including diary and email management).
  • Strong analytical, written and verbal communication skills with the ability to summarise complex information accurately.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work to tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Political awareness, confidentiality and the ability to exercise sound judgement.
  • Strong interpersonal skills – able to engage confidently with Cabinet Members, senior officers, partners and the community.
  • The ability to manage casework, briefings and portfolio priorities effectively.
  • Knowledge of local government structures and functions (desirable).
