Are you a strategic thinker with a passion for procurement and supply chain excellence? We’re looking for a proactive and commercially savvy Buyer to help us drive efficiency, cost savings, and supplier performance across our manufacturing operations.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Lead the operation of our MRP systems to ensure seamless production planning and avoid supply disruptions.
  • Negotiate the best total acquisition costs for components and materials while maintaining high standards of quality and delivery.
  • Identify and onboard suppliers that support cost reduction goals and eliminate underperformers.
  • Manage RFQs, supplier proposals, and make informed recommendations using sound judgment and risk assessment.
  • Conduct regular supplier reviews to drive performance improvements and resolve non-conformances.
  • Monitor commodity market trends to support strategic negotiations.
  • Draft and manage purchasing contracts and authorise supplier invoices.
  • Source new materials and suppliers to support evolving business needs.
  • Develop and expand consignment stock, Kanban, and direct line feed agreements.
  • Administer the Purchase Order system efficiently and cost-effectively.
  • Support stock control and participate in annual stock takes.
  • Collaborate with Goods Inwards and Purchase Ledger teams to resolve queries.
  • Travel to other company sites as required.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Proven experience in a purchasing or supply chain role, ideally within manufacturing.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Practical knowledge of MRP/ERP systems (Syspro, Sage preferred).
  • Commercially and financially aware with a customer-focused mindset.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to analyse data, solve problems, and drive business improvements.
  • Flexible, adaptable, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of export documentation and procedures is a plus.
  • CIPS membership is desirable but not essential.
