Buyer - Reed : Job Details

A well-established manufacturing business based near Oxford is looking for a capable and proactive Buyer to join their team. This role sits within the purchasing department and plays a key part in ensuring materials are sourced efficiently, suppliers are performing to agreed standards, and stock levels are maintained to meet production needs.

• Place and manage orders for both contract and non-contract items

• Negotiate pricing and maintain supplier records within the MRP system

• Monitor supplier performance and support improvement initiatives

• Maintain appropriate stock levels and adjust MRP parameters as needed

• Liaise with Stores and Production Control to ensure timely delivery and workflow

• Support other departments when required

• Experience using MRP/ERP systems (SAP or similar)

• Strong communication and supplier management skills

• Comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word)

• A professional, organised and solutions-focused approach

A CIPS qualification is desirable but not essential — a willingness to work towards one is welcomed. This is a great opportunity for someone with some experience in Purchasing who’s looking to grow within a supportive and forward-thinking team.
