I am recruiting on behalf of a leading manufacturing business for a skilled and proactive buyer to join their procurement team. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in managing the purchasing of all indirect goods while supporting operational performance and continuous improvement across the supply chain.The Role:Reporting to the Procurement Manager, you’ll be responsible for ensuring the effective sourcing, negotiation, and management of supplier relationships. You will work cross-functionally with teams across the organisation to meet cost, quality, and delivery objectives while maintaining optimal inventory levels.Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the purchasing of indirect goods and services to support operational departments
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with supply chain partners
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement across quality, cost, delivery, and inventory performance
- Maintain approved supplier lists and source alternative suppliers as required
- Support ERP system development relating to purchasing and supplier data
- Assist with stock control and ensure materials availability to meet business demand
- Investigate and resolve supplier quality issues and ensure commercially appropriate outcomes
- Conduct supplier negotiations and ensure consistent on-time, in-full delivery
- Liaise with internal teams on alternative product specifications and provide procurement input for customer quotations
- Provide cover for direct goods purchasing and support wider procurement team activities as needed
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience in a procurement or buyer role, ideally within a manufacturing or engineering setting
- A background in the sourcing of indirect goods and services
- Familiarity with ERP purchasing and inventory systems
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills
- High attention to detail with strong administrative and organisational abilities
- Commercially minded with the ability to work under pressure and to deadlines
- Ideally CIPS Level 4 qualified (or equivalent experience)
