Business Support Officer - Children's Finance SupportLocation: Hybrid, working from home and onsite at the Civic Centre within Walsall Town CentreSalary: £13.02 per hourContract: Full-time, 6 monthsWorking Schedule: Monday - Thursday 8.45am until 5.15pm with 1 hour unpaid break and Friday's 8.45am until 4.45pm with 1 hour unpaid break.About the Role:Opus People Solutions are recruiting on behalf of Walsall Council who are seeking a diligent and proactive Business Support Officer to join the Business Support team as a Finance Support specialist.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Validate payments to foster carers and providers against the levels of care received, within the approved budgetary envelope.
  • Develop and implement auditable overpayment recovery processes as necessary, maximizing income and ensuring accurate accounting.
  • Prepare financial, administrative, and other relevant information including budget monitoring, final accounts, and reports.
  • Ensure service delivery compliance with contractual frameworks and investigate payment irregularities.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for children's social care providers regarding payment queries and schedules.
  • Apply and validate annual provider uplifts in a timely manner and challenge information to ensure accuracy.
  • Liaise with customers and providers to resolve payment disputes and facilitate accurate payment arrangements.

Requirements:

  • Background in finance with demonstrable administrative experience.
  • Proficiency in IT skills and knowledge, including relevant software and systems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and resolve payment-related issues confidently.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail to ensure accurate payment processing.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and integrity in all aspects of work.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and perform duties beyond the scope of the role as required.
