Your role will encompass:

  • Overseeing and improving the designated subject area.
  • Enhancing student performance and overseeing their progress within the subject or curriculum.
  • Developing a curriculum that is comprehensive, inclusive, and differentiated to meet the needs of all students, aligning with the academy's goals and the curriculum frameworks set by the Governing Body and Principal.
  • Teaching the specified subject to a diverse range of students in terms of age and abilities.
  • Promoting a learning environment that enables students to reach their full potential.
  • Managing personnel, budget, and resources effectively within the department.
  • Contributing to the academy’s mission to foster both personal and academic development in students.

Your primary duties include:

  • Planning both day-to-day and long-term strategies for the subject area including creating improvement plans and developing teaching materials and strategies.
  • Ensuring the curriculum delivered is robust, comprehensive, high-quality, and cost-efficient while leading its continual development.
  • Leading staff development initiatives including recruitment and cultivating a team-oriented environment.
  • Overseeing student performance metrics, setting goals, and implementing evaluation mechanisms to ensure high standards are met.
  • Managing the pastoral care of students through roles such as form tutor.
  • Teaching duties, exemplifying excellent teaching practices.
Qualifications & Experience

  • Possess Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent, a relevant undergraduate degree, and preferably, management training.
  • Have demonstrated successful teaching at the GCSE level or higher.
  • Bring experience in initiating and managing change effectively.
  • Can show proof of enhancing achievement in their current role and contributing significantly to student progress.
  • Are well-informed about recent developments in their subject area and their impact on teaching.
  • Understand modern educational theories and child development, aimed at enhancing student learning outcomes.
  • Have strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exhibit excellent organisational capabilities.
  • Maintain high professional standards and forge strong relationships with students.
  • Contribute to creating a secure and supportive learning environment.
