Role Overview
The firm is seeking an experienced and driven Business Recovery and Insolvency Partner to lead the Business Recovery and Insolvency Department. As Head of Department, you will set the strategic vision, lead a high-performing team, and manage a portfolio of complex contentious and non-contentious insolvency matters. This role offers the scope to shape a department within a forward-thinking, fast-growing practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Business Recovery and Insolvency Department, supervising junior lawyers and support staff.
- Develop and deliver the department’s strategic growth plan.
- Advise insolvency practitioners and corporate clients on administration, liquidation, receivership, and restructuring matters.
- Handle complex, high-value contentious and non-contentious insolvency cases.
- Represent clients in court and in negotiations, providing expert litigation and dispute resolution support.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships through effective communication and service delivery.
- Stay up-to-date with insolvency legislation and case law.
- Collaborate with other departments to offer integrated legal solutions.
- Mentor and develop junior team members to support their professional growth.
- Work across diverse insolvency and property sectors, including developments, hotels, residential, mixed-use, apartment blocks, buy-to-let portfolios, and freehold investments.
Qualifications & Skills
- Qualified Solicitor with substantial experience in business recovery and insolvency law.
- Proven track record in managing both contentious and non-contentious matters.
- Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to inspire a team.
- Excellent drafting, negotiation, and analytical abilities.
- Skilled at managing a varied and demanding caseload.
- Strong interpersonal and client relationship skills.
- Strategic and commercially focused mindset.
- Commitment to continuous professional development.
- Existing client base welcome but not essential.
