About The RoleTeam – Data Engineering & BIWorking Pattern - Hybrid – 2 days per week in the Vitality Bournemouth Office. Full time, 35 hours per week. We are happy to discuss flexible working!What this role is all about:The Data Engineer role will be responsible for delivering the underlying data and visualization technology to support the implementation of innovative machine learning applications. You will enjoy working with rich datasets, cutting edge technology and help shape new data pipeline in an innovative company that helps people live healthier lives. You will have the chance to help Vitality stay at the forefront of SME and Corporate healthcare client reporting.  This role offers a skilled individual the opportunity to own and deliver end to end projects, liaising with professionals across the business.Key Actions
  • Work with Data Engineering team to implement robust and trustworthy data to assist high-performance streams
  • Working with managers and senior leaders in Corporate healthcare, SME healthcare and Corporate Analytics to gather and sign-off requirements to develop reporting
  • Employ a variety of languages and tools (e.g. scripting languages) to develop and manage robust data pipelines connecting various systems
  • Develop datasets and processes that facilitate data modelling, mining and production
  • Taking complete responsibility for the build of reporting, including extracting appropriate data from our source systems, in line with data management processes, ensuring the report and its contents are fully documented
  • Testing and implementing the report into live for our client managers. Conducting any training with internal teams on the use, and interpretation, of the report
  • Provide clean, usable data to data community and recommend ways to improve data reliability, efficiency and quality. Investigating possible data issues, including identifying the root causes of issues and implementing solutions, working with other teams around the organisation as necessary
  • Research opportunities for data acquisition and new uses for existing data
  • Work collaboratively with the Data Science, Data Architecture, and other IT delivery teams to design, construct, install, test and maintain highly scalable data management systems
Essential Skills needed to fulfil this role:
  • 3+ years of project experience
  • You will have enhanced experience of Advanced SQL coding
  • 3+ years database T-SQL coding
  • Data modelling experience
  • Excellence in communication and influencing skills, experience working with non IT stakeholders
