Summary

We are currently recruiting for a Business Analyst to join our team.

With a track record working on data focussed projects we want someone who can put the user first, being able to see things from their perspective, developing and defining business processes with the ability to translate this information into actionable business requirements specifications that can be transformed into viable data solutions to enable successful project delivery and benefits to the National Trust.

As a member of the Enterprise Data Team your responsibilities will include shaping the Enterprise Data roadmap, providing guidance on data utilisation across the Trust, and collaborating with colleagues to address their specific data requirements.

As well as being part of the broader Strategy Management Unit (SMU), the Data Team plays a crucial role in ensuring that people use, trust, and understand our data to maximise its value and support the delivery of our strategy.

Stakeholder management is critical as you'll be working with people from across the organisation including data analysts, product owners and our development team to understand their needs and translate these into clear requirements to add to our pipeline of work.

Your contractual location will be our head office in Swindon and there will be an expectation for you to attend the office. However, there is flexibility on where you are based at other times. You will be required to work at a National Trust location for 40-60% of your working week. This will be discussed in more detail at interview.

What you'll be doing

As a Business Analyst, your responsibilities will include understanding stakeholders’ needs, clarifying mutual requirements, and ensuring that they align with both business benefits and user needs. You will communicate technical concepts to senior stakeholders, contribute to documentation standards, define business rules, and actively participate in the Trust’s Business Analysis Community of Practice. Additionally, you will serve as a subject matter expert for the Data Team, delivering training and setting documentation standards.

  • A thorough understanding and demonstration of business analysis tools and techniques 
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail. 
  • The ability to assimilate, interpret and document data and information 
  • Expert knowledge of requirements elicitation, definition and management 
  • Proven experience working within a data governance framework and applying data governance concepts e.g. data quality. 
  • Demonstrable skills in requirement gathering, process mapping and documentation. 
  • Strong user focus and stakeholder management skills, easily adapting to different audiences and their communication needs 
  • The ability to demonstrate independent thinking to constructively challenge and influence at all levels in the organisation.
