Building Surveyor – Council Schools Accessibility Programme (West London)Rate: £350 per day (Inside IR35)Contract: 3 months initiallyLocation: West London Borough – 3 days on-site, 2 days remoteHours: FullTime, 3 days per week on siteAbout the roleWe are recruiting an experienced Building Surveyor on behalf of a West London local authority to support a schools’ accessibility programme across the borough.This role will focus on assessing and improving accessibility and condition standards in primary and secondary schools, working closely with headteachers, site managers, contractors and project teams.Key responsibilities:
- Act as the dedicated link surveyor for a group of schools, building strong relationships with school and council stakeholders.
- Undertake site inspections to assess building condition and accessibility compliance.
- Identify practical and cost-effective solutions for remedial and improvement works.
- Scope and develop planned maintenance programmes, assessing urgency and estimating costs.
- Assist in preparing specifications, tender documents and evaluating bids.
- Project manage works on-site, liaising with consultants and contractors.
- Maintain accurate project, financial and asset management records.
- Support the delivery of climate-conscious and sustainable building solutions.
About you:
- Degree in Building Surveying or equivalent relevant experience.
- Strong understanding of building condition surveys, accessibility standards and maintenance planning.
- Excellent communication skills, able to liaise effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Organised, methodical and able to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and capable of using project management systems.

- 3-month initial assignment with potential extension.
- £350 per day – Inside IR35 (via umbrella).
- Hybrid working: 3 days per week on-site in West London schools, 2 days remote.
