Are you an experienced BSL Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting deaf or hearing-impaired pupils in an educational setting?
We are currently seeking a dedicated and skilled BSL Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school in Birmingham, working closely with pupils who use British Sign Language as their primary means of communication.
Key Responsibilities:Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with hearing impairments, using BSL to facilitate understanding and learning.
Assist the class teacher in delivering accessible and inclusive lessons.
Support the social and emotional development of pupils, fostering confidence and independence.
Work collaboratively with the wider SEN and inclusion team to meet the individual needs of each child.
BSL Level 2 or above (Level 3+ preferred)
Previous experience working in a school setting (mainstream or specialist)
Strong understanding of the needs of deaf or hearing-impaired children
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for inclusive education
